Deputy Nicolás Maduro Guerra, during his speech in the parliamentary debate on the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, stated that politics must be conducted "without violence, without hatred, without military invasion and without the kidnapping of presidents."
The parliamentarian emphasized that, one month after the military aggression, "the National Assembly proposes, at the initiative of the acting president, a powerful Amnesty Law to provide for reconciliation."
“With this law, we must work together to reunify the country, for the sake of peace and development; we must ensure, after this law, that politics can be conducted without violence, without hatred, without missiles, without military invasion, without the kidnapping of presidents. A month ago, there was a military attack on the country, and today this National Assembly, at the initiative of the acting president, proposes a powerful amnesty law to offer reconciliation, a pardon for people who take advantage of politics to commit crimes and then hide behind it,” he added.
He emphasized that differences will persist even after the law is passed: “They will continue, but what we cannot allow to continue is hatred; what we cannot allow to continue is violence, denigration, and the disregard for the other person and their forces. Because we deeply respect the democratic opposition that seeks peace: we respect them, we recognize them, we invite them, and they are necessary for a country at peace. But we are also a force, and in my view, a majority force with a grassroots population that was historically excluded for many years.”
He pointed out that, given the deep inequality gap that was established in the country for more than one hundred years after the betrayal of Bolívar, Commander Hugo Chávez arrived.
"We advocate for peace, for love, for coexistence, for reconciliation. I highlight three phrases: 'building trust,' as Jorge Arreaza said; 'let nothing derail us'; and what Congressman Romero said: Venezuela cannot endure another act of revenge. Venezuela must lead with love," he stated.
